After a couple of months focusing on events at Book Corner, I thought I’d share an update about my new novel, The Hometown Bookshop.
My advance copies arrived this morning! They’re gorgeous. I’m so pleased with how the cover has turned out. Here I am (or, at least, here’s my hand) posing with a copy in Book Corner.
I can’t quite believe I’ve reached this point. Eighteen months ago, I was experiencing a severe case of difficult second book syndrome, with no idea if I could make this novel work. I’m so glad I persevered with it, and I can’t wait to share it with readers.
Audiobook News
I’m also excited to announce that The Hometown Bookshop is going to be produced as an audiobook. I’m absolutely delighted about this, as I loved the audiobook of The Moon and Stars. There’s something very special about hearing narrators bringing your words to life. As someone who has always loved the theatre, it gives me a similar feeling to watching a play. As my novel has two viewpoint characters - Greg and Charlotte - the publisher has cast two narrators: David Thorpe and Charlotte Strevens, so I’m even more excited to hear the end result! (Incidentally, this also means that two out of the three viewpoint characters in my novels are read by performers with the same first name…)
The audiobook will be published on the 21st August, the same day as the paperback. You can pre-order it on Audible here. I’ll let you know if it becomes available on other audiobook platforms.

I’m currently finalising details for my launch events for the novel. I'll be holding an informal 'drop-in' launch at Book Corner on Saturday 23rd August from 11am - 3pm. Anyone can call in the bookshop, have a free drink and get a signed copy of the book. Please do come along!
